An Introduction
Hi, I am Jessica Smith. You may hear members of my family and close friends call me Jessa. I live on a five-acre farm with my husband, Micah, and our three kids (Trey 18, Ellison 12, and Weston 8), oh - and small menagerie of animals.
When we purchased our property, we knew we wanted to raise our own vegetables and meat. More importantly, we wanted our kids to grow up learning about what it takes to care for land and animals. We started with cows, pigs, chickens, and a vegetable garden. It wasn’t long before I was bit by the flower bug (I blame those magical dahlia tubers) and my cut flower garden soon grew from a few rows to a quarter acre.
I have worked in education for 18 years, and I have a passion for creating and learning. When I work with flowers my need to create something is met. Additionally, farming is never the same from season to season and I am ALWAYS learning.
I love to share my arrangements as well as any knowledge I have gleaned through my adventures in the garden. I hope this blog can help you along your journey as well. I am not a professional, most days I feel like I am way behind the curve. However, if you can learn from my trials and errors, I am happy to share. Regardless of what brought you here - thank you. Please reach out if you have any questions or want me to share something more specific.
