Creating Balance
Balance. Isn’t that what we are all trying to create? A balance between work life and personal life? A balance between, spouse, parent, and self? A balance between safety and adventure?
I recently took some time off from my “day job” and the farm and went to the desert with my family. On an early morning hike, it dawned on me that I, like so many women, am spreading myself too thin. I have a job that requires a minimum of 40 hours a week. I have three children exploring their own interests, and a husband who deeply loves his job and our hobby farm. Our lives are full of so many wonderful adventures, we are truly blessed to get to explore what makes us feel passionate and fulfilled.
Time with family, flowers, gardening, and creating are what excite me. I love my job working with young people and can’t envision not walking into a school each day and working with teachers and students, just as I could NEVER stop growing flowers. When dreaming of what the 2024 growing season held in store for me, I was truly looking for balance. I want to spend time with my husband, be available for my oldest as he plans his wedding, cheer on my younger children as they play the sports they love, make memories, and create beauty in my garden.
Knowing I only have so many hours in a day and only so many years before my children are grown, I have made the decision to scale back on selling bouquets. I will still sell my flowers around town and host events when convenient for me and my family. I love my customers and the support I have received since I set out on my flower journey. I know they will understand, and I hope this post encourages you to create boundaries in your life that help create balance and leave you feeling positively fulfilled.
With gratitude,
Jessa
